The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection participates in Marriott Bonvoy, but the rules are not identical to a Ritz-Carlton hotel stay. Members can earn points on the eligible cash portion of the cruise fare, earn one Elite Night Credit per completed cruise night and redeem points toward the fare. Elite members also receive onboard benefits that become more substantial at Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador status.
The most important difference is that elite bonus points are not awarded on the cruise fare. Members earn five base points per eligible dollar regardless of status, although a qualifying Marriott Bonvoy credit card may earn additional points under that card’s terms. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Quick answer Bonvoy participation is genuinely useful for travelers who want elite-night credits, are working toward Ambassador qualifying spend or value the onboard elite benefits. Redeeming points produces a fixed value of approximately 0.56 cents per point, so it should be compared with the value you could receive from another use.
Booking through a travel advisor and keeping your Bonvoy benefits
You can reserve through a travel professional and still have your Bonvoy number attached to the booking. The cruise line’s FAQ specifically directs guests to The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection or a travel professional and says the member number can be supplied through the advisor at least 30 days before sailing.
I can compare the live cruise fare and available offers, help select the suite and make sure your Bonvoy information is attached correctly before the deadline.

The rules above come from Marriott’s Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection terms and the cruise line’s Bonvoy FAQ.
How many Marriott Bonvoy points do you earn?
Members earn five base points per eligible dollar on the cash portion of the cruise fare they pay. Elite status does not add the normal hotel elite bonus to that base earning. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
For example:
| Eligible cash cruise fare paid by the member | Base Bonvoy points earned |
|---|---|
| $10,000 | 50,000 points |
| $20,000 | 100,000 points |
| $30,000 | 150,000 points |
This is illustrative math, not a fare quote. Taxes, fees, port expenses, shore excursions, spa services and most other excluded purchases do not earn points under the current terms. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Can you earn points for more than one suite?
Yes. A member may earn points on up to three suites, double occupancy, when the member pays for them and is booked into and stays in one of those suites. The member receives Elite Night Credit only for the suite personally occupied—not extra credits for the additional suites. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
What if two Bonvoy members share a suite?
Both guests can earn points only when each pays a portion of the eligible cruise fare. Points follow the member making the payment, not simply everyone listed in the suite. Official Bonvoy FAQ
Do Marriott credit cards earn additional points?
A Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit card may earn additional points according to that card’s terms. The cruise program does not promise one universal card multiplier, so confirm how the transaction will code and review the current benefit guide for your exact card. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
How Elite Night Credits work
The member earns one Elite Night Credit for each cruise night when the member personally pays for, sails in and completes the voyage. A seven-night cruise therefore earns seven Elite Night Credits; a 14-night cruise earns 14. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Eligible cash spending on the cruise fare and a qualifying RCYC hotel package also counts toward the annual qualifying-spend requirement for Ambassador Elite. This can be meaningful for a member who already has the required nights but still needs qualifying spend. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Points and Elite Night Credits should post within 14 days after the voyage is completed. If they have not posted after that window, Marriott directs the member to contact The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Official Bonvoy FAQ
Marriott Bonvoy elite benefits aboard Ritz-Carlton yachts
Elite benefits apply to the individual member and the one suite in which that member stays. Benefits do not automatically extend to multiple suites the member may have purchased. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
| Onboard benefit | Silver | Gold | Platinum | Titanium | Ambassador |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Invitation to Bonvoy Elite reception | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Choice of in-suite welcome gift | — | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Complimentary first-evening pressing | — | — | Yes | Yes | Replaced by full-voyage laundry benefit |
| Priority boarding and departure | — | — | — | Yes | Yes |
| Early access to S.E.A. reservations | — | — | — | — | Yes |
| Complimentary laundry throughout the voyage | — | — | — | — | Yes |
The benefit chart is based on Marriott’s current RCYC terms. Welcome-gift choices vary by tier, and benefits are subject to the full program rules.
Which elite levels gain the most?
Silver and Gold members receive recognition, but the most practical benefits begin at Platinum with first-evening garment pressing. Titanium adds priority boarding and departure. Ambassador is the most distinctive level because it adds early access to S.E.A. reservations and complimentary laundry throughout the cruise.
Benefits are cumulative unless the program terms specify otherwise. Ambassador’s full-voyage laundry replaces first-evening pressing.

How redeeming Bonvoy points works
The initial redemption is 180,000 points for $1,000 off the cruise fare. After that, members may redeem either another 180,000 points for $1,000 or 90,000 points for $500. Full-fare redemption may be available, subject to verification and availability. Points do not cover taxes, fees or port expenses. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Both redemption increments produce the same value:
| Points redeemed | Cruise-fare savings | Value per point |
|---|---|---|
| 90,000 | $500 | About 0.56 cents |
| 180,000 | $1,000 | About 0.56 cents |
| 360,000 | $2,000 | About 0.56 cents |
The current terms allow points to be applied until 121 days before embarkation, when final payment is due. Points cannot be redeemed for an RCYC hotel package. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Is redeeming Bonvoy points for a Ritz-Carlton yacht a good value?
At approximately 0.56 cents per point, the redemption is predictable rather than aspirational. Whether it is a good decision depends on how you otherwise use Bonvoy points and how much you value lowering the cash cost now.
Redeeming can make sense when
- You have a large points balance without a higher-value hotel use planned.
- Reducing the immediate cash price is more important than maximizing theoretical point value.
- You want to offset part of a high cruise fare while retaining flexibility in the rest of the trip budget.
- You are unlikely to use the points for a hotel redemption that produces more value.
Paying cash can make more sense when
- You regularly redeem Bonvoy points for hotel stays worth more than 0.56 cents per point.
- You want to earn five base points per eligible dollar on a larger cash fare.
- You are pursuing Ambassador qualifying spend.
- You prefer to use points for expensive hotel nights before or after the cruise.
There is no universal answer. A split strategy—redeeming some points while paying the remaining fare in cash—can be reasonable because the eligible cash portion still earns according to the program terms.

Important Bonvoy limits travelers miss
Elite bonus points do not apply
Gold, Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members still earn five base points per eligible dollar rather than receiving the hotel elite-point bonus on the cruise fare. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Not every onboard purchase earns points
Shore excursions, spa services, specialty dining, laundry and most personal purchases are nonqualifying charges. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Hotel-style guarantees do not carry over
Marriott’s Look No Further Best Rate Guarantee and member rates do not apply to RCYC cruise or hotel-package bookings. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Your membership number must be attached
Provide the correct Bonvoy number at purchase or no later than 30 days before embarkation. If you book through a travel advisor, ask the advisor to confirm it is on the reservation. Official Bonvoy FAQ
Redemption has a deadline
Points must be applied by 121 days before embarkation under the current terms. Do not wait until the last payment has already been processed. Marriott’s current RCYC terms
Why use a travel advisor for a Bonvoy booking?
Bonvoy participation does not eliminate the value of cruise-specific advice. A travel advisor can help you compare suite locations, itinerary differences, live promotions and total trip costs while also confirming that your Bonvoy number is attached.
The cruise line allows an existing direct reservation to be transferred to a travel professional within 30 days of the original deposit, provided it is not within final payment and has not been paid in full. It is better to involve the advisor before booking so the suite, fare rules and loyalty details can be reviewed from the beginning. Current booking terms
I can also help distinguish an actual cruise-fare saving from a promotion that simply shifts value into onboard credit or another restricted benefit.
Ready to use your Bonvoy status at sea?
The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection offers one of the clearest hotel-loyalty connections in luxury cruising, but the most valuable benefit depends on your tier and booking. The fixed point redemption is easy to calculate; the harder decision is whether it is the best use of those points and whether the yacht, suite and itinerary are right for you.
Send me the voyage you are considering, your Bonvoy level and whether you prefer to use cash, points or a combination. I can help you compare the options before the redemption and final-payment deadlines.
